Tudor-Radu TIRON  is a well known Heraldic bookplate artist whose work is to be found on other pages of this web site. He is well known for his monochrome seal type bookplates, which can only be described as  works of art. Each plate is finely detailed and could almost be mistaken for a genuine impression from an ancient seal. Tudor also produces an attractive series of plates that have a strong architectural theme, where the armorial bearing appears to be standing between a broken pediment  surmounting a panel which bears the name of the plates owner. I have been lucky to have been donated examples of both types of bookplates for which I am most grateful.

The heraldic ex-libris of Mr. Richard Globe (Copenhagen).Inspired by a late 15th century type of equestrian seal, the composition refers to the fact that the armiger was born in Canada but has lived most of his life in Europe, finally settling in Denmark.
The composition also includes three groups of two crowned lions facing each other, alluding the state coats of arms of Canada and Denmark.

My good friend and Bookplate collector from Luxembourg, Jo Kohn Esq. has sent two plates,. neither of which am I familiar with the artist. The charge in chief on the Monsieur's plate is also unknown to me? I do notice that Jo has signed the Kalinowski plate so maybe he is the artist.

Laurent Granier has once again sent me his latest armorial plates and I must say it is always a pleasure to add them to my collection. Many thanks Laurent.

Jan. 2014

My, how time flies! 2014 has suddenly crept up on us. Unfortunately my absence these last few months caused by ill health has prevented me from posting, but hopefully this new year will bring with it more time and opportunity to engage in this hobby of bookplate collecting.
This plate was kindly sent to me by FB friend Robin Lumsden. And I must say what a magnificent plate Robin has commissioned. The original size of the actual plate is 8" X 51/2" this of course allows the detail to be viewed. Do I need to name the artist? It is of course a Jamieson! Sadly this artist no longer undertakes heraldry commissions, a great loss to bookplate collectors.
